Raising vital funds with Operation Sunshine

Following our recent work with Operation Sunshine, we are always looking for more ways to give back and help make things better for women and children who have survived domestic violence.

On Sunday, 2nd August 2026, Miles and his daughter April helped the team at Operation Sunshine raise vital funds to support their cause.

They started bright and early at 7.30 am, prepping, cooking, and selling sausages in a roll at Bunnings. Sales started off a bit slow, but thankfully picked up over the course of the day.

It was wonderful to work alongside Leah, an Operation Sunshine leader whom we have known for some time now. She is an exceptional leader who is totally committed to helping those in need.

We feel very fortunate to play a small part in supporting the critical work they do.

Why is their work so important?

One in six women has faced violence from an intimate partner. When a violent relationship ends, roughly two-thirds of women are forced to leave their homes, making domestic violence a major cause of homelessness for Australian women and their children.

At Mediserve, we want to do our part to help survivors get back on their feet. That is why we have teamed up with Operation Sunshine, an organisation that supports women and children in Western Australia who have been displaced by domestic violence or are in the care of child protection services.

One of their standout initiatives is providing emergency supplies to those escaping a difficult situation:

• Sunshine Packs for kids: These packs give children comforting and essential items to help them settle into a new living environment.
• Courage Kits for women: These kits are filled with the everyday necessities women need most during an incredibly vulnerable time.

Together, these packs provide practical basics like toothbrushes, soap, underwear, socks, pyjamas, and reading books.

We are proud to have donated thousands of dollars to this vital cause, but we also believe in getting hands-on.
